Born Ma Yat Hang in Hong Kong[1], Gary Ma was the first Pawn selected to serve on Zenlil at Taryn Fisher's request. His father died when he was five years old. He and his mother moved to Vancouver a year later. When he was 16, he took interest in the environment after doing a school project on oceanic acidification. He married Carla (surname unknown) in September, 2028. On December 21, 2028, Carla and Gary's mother were killed by the Vancouver Earthquake of 2028. Gary and Taryn met at a vigil for the earthquake in 2030 and he was inducted into the Consortium on March 22, 2037, to serve on Zenlil.[1]

He isn't very sociable in Consortium and there is no way to talk to him at the beginning of the game without getting negative alignment. The only way to get on his good side is to save him when Zenlil comes under fire by the Homeless Mercenaries.
He works in Mission Operations.
